Summer, 2020
2.5' x 3'
cotton fabric dyed with avocado, indigo, and henna natural dyes, thread, batting
Natural dyes feel like an important way to mark time. A natural dye process can take days, and a quilt can take months or years. I find both natural dye and quilting an way to remember a time period. The summer of 2020 was a time to remember. It was deep pandemic, social uprisings had started across the country, we were processing so much so quickly. I was living in my parents house in Taos, New Mexico and I was quilting in order to understand time and what was happening around me.

Mist, 2020
1' x 2'
cotton fabric dyed with sumac and indigo, batting, quilting cotton thread
This piece was made for Art for Activism. Art for Activism was organized by artists in New Orleans, Louisiana after the 2020 uprisings as a way for artists to auction of their work in order to raise money for local mutual aid efforts. This piece was made that summer, a summer of learning, a summer of a covid blur. The mist felt very present.
